Eddie McDonald, D.O. Orthopedic Surgeon
Building a strong connection with patients and providing education is crucial for achieving the best outcomes. By taking the time to understand my patients' interests, worries, and individual recovery objectives, I can create a treatment plan to help you regain your health and live life to the fullest
Edward “Eddie” McDonald, D.O., is a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in diagnosing and treating foot and ankle disorders, with special interests in total ankle replacement, arthroscopic procedures, and minimally invasive surgery.
He earned his medical degree from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Colorado, where he balanced taking exams and hiking to the summits of many “14er’s”. After medical school, he returned to his SoCal roots for an orthopedic surgery residency at Community Memorial Health System in Ventura. During his training, he co-authored multiple publications and was drawn to the intricacy, variety, and often challenging nature of foot and ankle procedures. Dr. McDonald then completed a fellowship at the University of Virginia, where he fine-tuned his clinical and operative skills in orthopedic foot and ankle surgery while also picking up a pickleball habit.
Dr. McDonald grew up not too far away in sunny Thousand Oaks, California, where he spent the majority of his childhood inside an ice rink playing hockey. His experience in competitive athletics and enjoyment of the outdoors taught him the importance of maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle as well as how quickly an injury can sideline you from even the simplest of things, such as walking your dog, taking the stairs, or spending time with family and friends.
At Desert Orthopedic Center, Dr. McDonald’s goal is to optimize each patient’s treatment to alleviate pain and restore function. He believes patient connection and education are invaluable in reaching the best outcome. He does this by working to gain a clear understanding of his patients’ hobbies, concerns, and personal recovery goals. With this, he develops an individualized treatment plan designed to get you back on your feet and living to your full potential.
In his free time, Dr. McDonald enjoys staying active by hiking with his wife and two dogs, mountain biking, and playing hockey in the local adult league while cheering on the Coachella Valley Firebirds as a new fan.
