Deep Patel, MD, is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist with fellowship training in Pain Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, followed by completion of a residency program in anesthesiology, serving as Chief Resident at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences, Toledo, Ohio. Most recently, she completed a fellowship program in chronic pain at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dr. Patel was always interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. She was initially interested in veterinary science but later realized that witnessing animals in pain was not the best career path for her, so she switched to studying medicine instead. It was while in residency for anesthesiology that she learned of a subspecialty in pain management. During residency, Dr. Patel was inspired by passionate attending physicians, which led her to pursue fellowship training in chronic pain.

Dr. Patel believes in shared decision-making with her patients. She educates them about the causes of their pain and discusses various options to alleviate the pain, along with preventative measures. She strongly believes that there are usually numerous options available apart from surgery to address pain issues. Based on the patient’s lifestyle and other possible health conditions, Dr. Patel collaborates with her patients to create a treatment plan that is best suited for them.
