Cesar Abdul-Massih, M.D. Sports Medicine

Ghassan BoghosianListening to patients and encouraging them to be engaged in their own treatment plan is a key tenant to my approach to patient care.

Cesar Abdul-Massih, MD, is Board Certified in Sports Medicine and Internal Medicine. Dr. Abdul-Massih graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. He subsequently earned a Master of Science in Physiology from Georgetown University, Washington D.C., and a medical degree from the University of Balamand, Beirut, Lebanon. He then joined the American University of Beirut’s emergency medicine residency program. After relocating back to the United States, he transitioned to Internal Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital’s residency program in Cincinnati, Ohio. Most recently, he completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Eisenhower Health, and then joined Desert Orthopedic Center.

Dr. Abdul-Massih became interested in medicine from his first-hand experience as a patient and seeing the role doctors played in his healing process. This provided him with a desire to pursue medicine so that he could make that same difference in patients’ lives.

Initially, he was drawn toward emergency medicine because of its acuity and hands-on nature. While in internal medicine residency in the U.S., Dr. Abdul-Massih was influenced by a colleague and was introduced to the sub-specialty of sports medicine. It was a natural fit, given his interest and participation in sports. Dr. Abdul-Massih got some good exposure to sports medicine in residency. He loved the opportunity to build a rapport with patients in the clinic, and he saw how he could provide comprehensive medical care using both his ER and internal medicine background.

During his sports medicine fellowship, he focused on improving the quality of life of his patients by either getting them back to playing sports or just simply performing daily life activities. Dr. Abdul-Massih is excited to join the Desert Orthopedic team and contribute to improving the lives of our patients. Dr. Abdul-Massih focuses on non-surgical orthopedic musculoskeletal conditions and injuries, which allows for early, non-invasive interventions that prevent or delay the need for surgery.

He also specializes in concussion diagnostics, testing, protocols, and clearances.
